The educational farm

The experiences presented in these last pages are all organized at Palagina, a renowned accommodation facility in the area, located about 15 km from us. In addition to being an accommodation facility, Palagina is also an agricultural company and an educational farm at the same time. The estate as a whole covers an area of approximately 100 hectares and is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woods.

Palagina’s motto is “rural by nature” because at the estate it is possible to live authentic and immersive experiences in contact with nature, experiences that evoke the happy life of the Tuscan countryside at the time when the person was the center of everything. The experience of the educational farm is suitable for both children and adults: in Palagina you learn with wonder, discovering nature with a careful eye and an open heart.

The tour begins with a walk in the vineyard to discover the most typical product of the Tuscan countryside. You will also admire the vegetable garden, with different products and colors in every season. You will meet the animals, partners and companions of the days at Palagina: the donkey Bart, the pig Mirtillo, the sheep Gioia, the two ponies Troll and Aprilante and all the other tenants of the farm! You will enter the main enclosure (where the animals usually graze free) and knock on their stables for the daily food ration.

The secrets of each species will be revealed to you: how they communicate, what they eat and many other curiosities. Furthermore, during or at the end of the tour, you will taste the farm’s products: oil, wine, grape juice, honey and other typical local delicacies. While exploring, you will also be able to take a look at the hive and observe the bees working on it. - High season: (from June 6 to mid-september a metà settembre) Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 04.30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 a.m. and at 04.30 p.m.

- Low season: (from April 4 to June 5) Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 a.m. and at 04.00 p.m.

- Duration: one hour and a half

- Rate: € 10.00 per person (both adults and children)

N.B.=> Sportswear with comfortable, closed shoes is recommended.
